Use Those Scraps (May)Use Those Scraps!
This month I loved all the little embellishments that were included in my "A Walk in the Park" kit so much that I wanted to figure out some way to do something special with them for this month's newsletter project. I also wanted to utilize something in my ever-growing personal stash of scrapbooking goodies and find a way to recycle it (seems as though if I don't do this, things seem to multiply in my craft room!). Anyways, for this month's project, I simply took an old Maya Road tin (that used to hold some sheer alpha's) and altered it with a bit of paint, ribbon, buttons and adhesive backed pearls to make a shadow box to hold a special photo.
Shadow Box Photo Frame
Supplies:
Maya Road tin (or other packaging that no longer is being used for it's intended purpose!)
acrylic paint
Prima ribbon
adhesive backed pearls by Imaginisce
MM buttons
MM flowers
MM fibers
MM ribbon glue
Glue-dots (or other favorite adhesive)
Instructions:
1. Paint sides of tin and the cover (do not paint the top of the cover) w/acrylic paint. (I had to do about 3 different coats to evenly cover the tin). Set aside to let dry.
2. When the tin is dry (and you are satisfied w/the paint coverage) adhere ribbon to the top of tin cover (creating a rectangle/frame) with ribbon glue.
3. Attach buttons, pearls and florals where you want to the top of the frame.
4. Adhere photo to the inside of your tin and add some embellishments to the photo where you like.
5. Once you have everything the way you like it on the inside of the tin, place on the cover and your finished!
You now have your own little shadow box photo frame!
